Fun times with the innauguration

Here we thought that once Bush would leave office, there wouldn’t be much to make fun of anymore…

Bye bye Bush - yours always, Veet

Except maybe journalists…

On a more serious note, while POTUS’s speech was fairly good (co-written by a 27 year old… which obviously begs the question, what have I been doing with MY life, but that’s for another rant for another day), I would like to know why they opted for the word “non-believer” instead of atheist.

Non-believer….

Not only does the use of a negative connote a segregation between those who believe in a greater being and those who don’t (anyone remember you’re with us or against us?) but it also makes me wonder if we are back where we were prior to inauguration day, back to a polarized conversation where the separation of church and state is notion for those idealists who voted for change…

If I were an Obama supporting atheist, I would feel pretty offended… strike that, I’m neither American nor atheist, and yet I feel my sense of hope gently crushed by a strong orator (and that 27 year old!).

Ok, I silently heart Jon Favreau (both of them). I never used heart as a verb before, but I feel it’s quite appropriate right now.
